Hi there, fellow globe-trotters! If you’re planning an adventure in Vietnam and sustainability is your jam, you’re in for a treat. According to the widely recognized travel and accommodation booking platform, Booking.com, you have over 5,000 eco-friendly accommodations at your disposal! Amazing, isn’t it?
This interesting tidbit comes from Booking.com’s recent annual Sustainable Travel Report. It turns out, the bustling Ho Chi Minh City tops the charts in Vietnam with the most establishments bearing the coveted Sustainable Travel badge from Booking.com. It’s closely trailed by Hanoi and Da Nang – two other fantastic destinations in Vietnam.
But the list doesn’t stop there. If you’re curious to explore further, there are seven other destinations in Vietnam that boast a significant number of sustainable accommodations. These include the serene beach town of Vung Tau, the picturesque mountain town of Da Lat, the riveting coastal resort city of Nha Trang, the ancient town of Hoi An, the vibrant city of Quy Nhon, the beautiful island of Phu Quoc, and the world-famous Ha Long.
Booking.com, with its steadfast mission to make global exploration easier for everyone (and in a greener way!), has shared these insights to inspire your wanderlust this year. They announced this uplifting news in a recent press release and we’re all here for it! Whether you’re an urban adventurer or a nature lover, Vietnam has countless sustainable accommodations to cater to your preferences.
The report further sheds light on the various green practices adopted by these sustainable properties in Vietnam. These eco-friendly measures range from providing reusable towels and the option to opt-out from daily room cleaning, to using water-efficient toilets and refillable water stations. Not to mention, properties also focus on energy conservation with eco-friendly LED lighting, among other sustainable initiatives.
Continuing with the good news, Booking.com’s 2023 Sustainable Travel Report uncovers that an astonishing 96% of Vietnamese travelers consider sustainable travel an important part of their journey. Even more inspiring, over 97% are keen to transform their intentions into concrete actions by making a deliberate effort to travel more sustainably in the forthcoming year.
The report gathers valuable insights from more than 33,000 travelers from 35 countries and territories. This includes a sample of 1,000 Vietnamese travelers who participated in an online survey conducted in February 2023.
As Varun Grover, Booking.com’s country head in Vietnam, rightly points out, there’s a noticeable surge in the interest among Vietnamese travelers to pursue more sustainable travel options. The Sustainable Travel badge on Booking.com is a great tool that aids these conscious travelers in finding green accommodations and understanding their eco-friendly practices.
In parallel, there’s an increasing trend among properties listed on Booking.com to earn the Sustainable Travel badge, recognizing the crucial need to adopt more sustainable operations. So, it’s quite clear – whether you’re an urban explorer or a lover of natural landscapes, Vietnam is ready to welcome you with open arms and an impressive array of sustainable accommodation options. Happy green travels!
